Igniting business growth

Pyroguard expands senior sales team

Business Growth

Independent fire glass specialist, Pyroguard, is delighted to announce the appointment of Andy Lake as UK Projects Director, who will draw on more than 33 years’ experience to drive the business forward as it eyes an ambitious growth target over the next four years.

As a former chairman of the Fire-resistant Glazing Group with the Glass & Glazing Federation (GGF), Andy has over 13 years of experience within the fire glass sector, in addition to 20 years spent in the glass industry. Alongside contributions to the GGF’s best practice guide and NVQ education module in fire resistant glazing, he also holds a diploma in fire doors from the Fire Door Inspection Scheme.

Beginning his career as an apprentice to become a glazier, Andy quickly began to progress from glass cutting and managing a sealed unit line through to area sales management. Setting his sights on a new challenge, he took the decision to specialise in fire glass, applying his knowledge and skills to a sector which has safety at its core.

“Fire glass has long been an interest of mine, both in terms of its production and application, with its ability to meet legislative demands and save lives,” says Andy. “Over recent decades, fire glass has evolved from the traditional wired glass to something much more elegant, helping to create some of the world’s most architecturally stunning buildings while adhering to fire safety requirements. Much of that is down to the innovative approach of manufacturers like Pyroguard, so I’m very excited to get stuck in and help customers old and new to discover the features and characteristics of our highly innovative products.”

Jason Walker, Group Sales Director at Pyroguard, adds: “Andy has a wealth of experience behind him, both in fire glass and in the broader glazing industry, so we’re very pleased to welcome him to the team. We’re sure his decades of experience will contribute valuable insight as we continue to develop market leading glass products.”
